Sightseeing In The Lake District

If you are a fan of historic landmarks, Castlerigg Stone Circle in Keswick is one of the finest of its kind in Cumbria, situated in a spectacular panorama of rugged hills. Ensure you go early to beat the crowds! A short way up the A591 towards Ambleside are Rydal Caves – a fantastic place for donning your explorer’s hat and walking shoes for a day of exploring.

The views of Derwentwater in Keswick are ideal for those who appreciate beautiful scenery. Hire a rowing boat or sit back with all the family on the shore and feed the ducks, swans and geese. Looking for something a bit more fast-paced? Chasing waterfalls at Aira Falls in Ullswater will show you the true power and beauty of nature in the Lake District – imagine walking through the undergrowth to be met with the sound and then the sight of 65 feet of falling water rushing down the cliff faces. Magical!

The Victorian seaside resort of Silloth is also a site to behold – drive past Roman forts, miles of sandy beaches and arrive this beautiful seaside town before having an unforgettable day with the family. Make sure you make a stop at the village of Allonby on your way back to Armathwaite Hall for some delicious ice cream and breath-taking sunsets.
