Alpacas for Weddings

Armathwaite Hall and The Lake District Wildlife Park near Keswick have teamed up to create a unique new ‘Meet the Alpaca’ Experience for couples tying the knot in the heart of the Lake District World Heritage Site.

Bridal parties now have the chance to mark their special day by enjoying the secluded splendour of the 400 acre Armathwaite Hall estate alongside a friendly family of alpacas, who live on site at the Lake District Wildlife Park.

Set against the backdrop of England’s 4th highest mountain Skiddaw with views of Bassenthwaite Lake, the drinks reception is the perfect time for this unique meet and greet with four woolly alpacas – Buzz, Herbie, Hector and Hugo. They will be accompanied by their dedicated Keepers who have nurtured and cared for them since they arrived as youngsters at the Park last year.

It is the ultimate photo opportunity and a great surprise for a bride, groom or future spouse.

The keepers will also be sharing plenty of specialist knowledge about these gentle creatures, who hail originally from South America and are renowned for their soft luxurious fleece.

Claire Ivill is the Alpaca’s dedicated Keeper. She says, “Alpacas love people and it is a pleasure to be introducing this special experience where couples can enjoy their gentle, friendly natures. Not only can newly-weds enjoy the spectacular Lakeland landscape, but they can create some genuine ‘wow’ moments – and photos – which will stay in the memory for many years to come.”

The Alpaca ‘Meet and Greet’ Experience costs £150 for 30 minutes. It can be included in any wedding package at Armathwaite Hall.
