Check In & Check Out Times

Rooms are guaranteed by 3pm on the day of arrival. Should you arrive earlier, we would be happy to store any luggage, whilst you use the facilities of the hotel. As soon as your room is ready we shall inform you. If you believe you will arrive late, after 10pm please advise us. We ask that you vacate your rooms by 11am on the day of departure. Late check outs may be available please contact reception staff. Guests are welcome to use the Spa from check in at 3pm on day of arrival until check out at 11am.

What is the dress code for dinner?

The Lake View Restaurant is non smoking and smart/casual attire is requested whilst dining in the evening.  Shorts and Trainers are not permitted. The Courtyard Bar and Brasserie Restaurant is more informal and casual.

Do we need to book for dinner?

A table will automatically be reserved for you if the package which you have booked is inclusive of dinner. You will be asked at what time you wish to dine on arrival. If your package is not inclusive of dinner, it is advisable to book prior to arrival. Please note a £50.00 per person allocation is applicable when a ‘dinner included’ package.

Are vegetarian options available?

We offer vegetarian options on all our menus.

Do you cater for special dietary requirements?

Please inform us prior to arrival of any special dietary requirements, food allergies, or any food intolerances. Our team of chefs shall endeavor to meet your requirements.

If you have any concerns relating to the allergens detailed below, please let us know at the time of booking.

Can non-residents dine in the restaurant?

Yes, however prior booking is essential for both lunch and dinner in the Lake View Restaurant and Courtyard Bar and Brasserie Restaurant. For reservations call 017687 76551.

Do we need to book treatments in The Spa?

Appointments are subject to availability, prior booking is advisable, please contact The Spa on 017687 88900. Our professional and helpful therapists would be happy to advise you which treatments would be suitable.

Can residents use the Spa?

Adults may use the facilities from 3pm on check in day until 11am on the day of departure.  A charge of £20 per person/£15 per child (over 6 years) per day is applicable for certain bedroom categories.

Children under 16 can use limited facilties between the following times: 8.30am to 10.30am and 4.30pm to 6.30pm.

 

Do we need to book activities?

Prior booking is advisable as places are limited. Please contact Reservations on telephone number 017687 76551 to discuss your requirements.

Are there fridges or mini-bars in the rooms?

No, but any baby food can be stored for you – please contact reception staff. Drinks can be purchased 24 hours from Room Service.

Do you have disabled access?

The whole of the ground floor including the Restaurant, Bar, Spa and some ground floor bedrooms are available to disabled guests with reserved parking and access from the courtyard at rear of the hotel.

Armathwaite Hall Hotel is an independently owned and managed hotel in the Lake District, Cumbria, England. Our objective is to ensure all our management & staff are aware of the requirements of the DDA 2005 and are given the necessary support to help achieve compliancy.

Armathwaite Hall Hotel is independently inspected on an annual basis to ensure consistency of standards. Initiatives are underway to help ensure all our customers receive the same treatment, regardless of ability, for example, a complete review of all marketing literature has been undertaken.

Armathwaite Hall Hotel offer facilities suitable for disabled guests. In order to ensure all hotels meet our guests needs, anyone requiring special facilities should highlight their requirement at the time of booking with our reservations department or the hotel directly.

Do you have family accommodation?

Families can be accommodated in rooms with extra beds for children, family rooms with bunk rooms and interconnecting rooms. Please contact reservations for details 017687 76551.

What is the cost of children in their own room?

Children in their own room get a 25% discount off the normal rate for the room. Contact reservations on 017687 76551 for further details.

Is there car parking available?

Free car parking is available on site. There is availability for up to 80 cars.

Do you store mountain bikes?

Yes, however we do not accept any liability for any loss or damage.

Are dogs welcome?

Well behaved dogs are welcome in the hotel with the exception of public rooms.

Please note not all of our accomodation is dog friendly.  We request that you contact the hotel directly so that we can advise you which of our bedrooms categories are available.

What are the booking conditions?

All reservations must be confirmed with a non-refundable deposit or £100.00 per person. (Except Christmas and New Year where the value of the deposit is £200.00 per person followed by payment of the balance by 1st December. For full details please request copy of our Christmas brochure).

Please take a moment of your time to read the hotels terms and conditions:

– A confirmed booking verbal or written constitutes a binding contract
– Charges will be made for cancellations of 100% within 48 hours of arrival and 50% within seven days of arrival
– We would advise for peace of mind, in the unlikely event of a cancellation that you take out covers with your own insurers.

We welcome cash, Maestro, Access/Mastercard and Visa. We reserve the right to alter the rates quoted without prior notification.

From time to time we share mail listings with preferred suppliers.

What facilities do the rooms have?

All forty six bedrooms have private bath and shower, bathrobes and slippers, satellite TV, Wi-Fi (in some rooms), direct dial telephone, trouser press or iron and ironing board, tea and coffee making tray, hairdryer and CD or radio hi-fi. Some rooms now have DVD players and plasma TV’s in bathrooms.

Which is the nearest railway station?

Penrith Railway station is located about 25 miles from Armathwaite Hall Hotel which has regular connections to London Euston, Manchester Airport and Edinburgh and Glasgow. Travelling time from Penrith to London Euston in approximately 4 hours.

Which are the nearest airports?

Newcastle, Glasgow, and Manchester international airports are located approximately 2 hours away.

Which is the nearest motorway?

The M6 is the nearest motorway and Armathwaite Hall is located 40 minutes (25 miles) off junction 40, Penrith of the M6.

Where is the Lake District?

The Lake District is situated in the county of Cumbria in the North West of England just south of the Scottish/English border. Manchester, Newcastle and Leeds are just over a couple of hours away making it an ideal escape to the country. This beautiful corner of Great Britain has a wealth of beautiful and inspiring landscapes from craggy mountains, crystal lakes, romantic castles and lush lowland. Within Cumbria and the Lake District, there are many places of interest and attractions to explore including gardens, romantic castles, wildlife parks, market towns, industrial heritage, the Solway coast, and the great border city of Carlisle.
