A School Holiday to Remember

Not sure what to do with the little ones over the holidays? We have lots of exciting events and activities taking place at the Hall that suit all – from tots to teens.

Start the week right by making your own delicious pizza in the brasserie from noon till 1pm. £7.95 for cost of pizza with 3 toppings.

On Tuesday we have mocktail making in our very own Cocktail Bar. Delight your senses with your own tasty creations.

Get over the midweek hump by getting out into the fresh air and exploring the grounds to look for clues to find the secret treasure.

Thursday brings campfire building and snacks. Here you will learn how to make a campfire without using matches – skills that would make Bear Grylls blush!

You can try your hand at archery on Friday and be just like Robin Hood. How many arrows will you shoot?

There is another outdoor activity on Saturday with Bivvy Building. Learn how to make a shelter in the woods using things you can find – a great skill for anyone to have.

Sunday is your chance to see a bird of prey up close.  Watch it fly across the grounds of the hotel and be sure to ask our bird handler any questions you might have. Remember to bring your camera!

Enjoy even more free fun during your stay at the Hall with our croquet lawn, tennis court and beautiful estate that is just waiting to be explored!

The Lake District Wildlife Park is a great day out for everyone, but also gives you a chance to get even closer to the action with a variety of fun experiences.

With the Keeper Experience, you have a chance to meet the tapirs, meerkats and lemurs. Your first job as keeper is to groom our tapirs – Muffin loves to get her tummy tickled! Then, prepare enrichment toys for the meerkats – mealworms are their favourite – before preparing fruit to give to the lemurs. Do not be afraid when they come up close and personal.

You can also meet our inquisitive and spritely mob of meerkats. You will notice that they are an excitable bunch, but their nosy nature means they will come up and say hello.

Starting from Easter, Alpaca walks are available. Come and meet our brothers – Buzz, Hugo, Hector and Herbie and learn all about their individual personalities from one of our keepers. Alpacas are friendly and inquisitive animals and love fresh air and exercise. This is your chance to lead your own alpaca on a walk around the Armathwaite Hall Estate while you enjoy the stunning backdrop of the Lake District mountains.

Older kids and parents may be interested in our Hawk Walk. Our guides will show you how to handle these birds, taking you through the basics of flying. You will start with an owl, before you take a hawk for a walk through the hotel grounds. Your experience culminates in free flying an eagle.

Please note: bookings for these activities is essential. Call the Park today on 017687 76239 to avoid disappointment.
