Armathwaite Hall Joins Lake District Tourism Initiative

AHH India forum Jan 2020 5

Have you visited India? Over 940,000 British nationals visited India in 2017 alone – but only 561,73 Indians visited our country. Armathwaite Hall, along with other leading Cumbrian businesses, is now calling on Indian tourists to visit our own beautiful region as part of a new initiative.

India is a beautiful country full of incredible buildings, cultures and scenery – but for many Indians who want to travel overseas, our very own Lake District should be an appealing destination. This January witnessed a board of 24 representatives from 13 local businesses visit India as part of Visit Britain and Cumbria Tourism’s ‘English Lake District Indian Forum’.

India has one of the world’s fastest growing economies, so attracting tourism to our region will mean increasing investment and spending in local businesses and stores. General manager Simon Steele visited Mumbai and Dehli, which together account for 40% of outbound tourism from India to Britain.

Commenting on the trip, Simon said: “This was an extremely worthwhile trip which allowed me to introduce Armathwaite Hall to a large number of the Indian luxury travel market. Their professionalism and knowledge was incredible and I am very much looking forward to doing business with them.”

“With fantastic flight connections now from major Indian cities to the North of the UK, this has opened up a huge opportunity for us. The agents I met with were particularly interested in our new leisure activities programme as well as the natural, pure and green location that the Lake District has become widely known for.”

Why Indians should consider the Lake District

Are you considering a visit to the UK? The Lake District is a beautiful region that combines Britain’s natural green landscapes with traditional culture including cobbled streets, local shopping and artisan food experiences. Like India’s own Taj Mahal, the Lake District is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Our luxurious hotel is like a fairytale getaway, combining English countryside heritage with a modern spa that boasts an outdoor hottub where you can look out onto Bassenthwaite Lake. If you’re interested in visiting our region, we would be delighted to host you in our luxurious hotel.
